Atelier Muir is an architectural studio providing affordable,
high-quality residential and commercial design services for
clients in southern Quebec.
Backed by many years of construction and architectural
experience, Atelier Muir uses the most up-to-date 2D and 3D
computer-aided design (CAD) technologies to shape the
building to your needs and taste, and to efficiently and accurately
produce the plans required for permits and construction.
For large projects, we team up with structural engineers and other professionals in
order to provide the level of service you require. The following five points summarize
our design approach:
- Know your site. Every building site has particular features
and qualities which must be carefully studied in order to achieve the
best result. These include orientation, access, light, views, prevailing winds, vegetation,
geology, topography, and so on.
- Be sensitive to the architectural context.
Every building is part of a larger whole--a street, a neighbourhood, a regional tradition--which the
new design should respond to in subtle ways, without resorting to slavish imitation.
- Build spaces that lift the spirits. With careful
attention to light, materials, ceiling heights,
and proportions, you can create memorable and inspiring spaces.
- Integrate new technologies in invisible ways.
New mechanical and electronic systems provide cost-effective ways to promote health,
comfort, safety and energy-efficiency in your building;
the challenge is to incorporate them in an effortless and almost invisible way.
